The work horse of cloth diapering, prefolds are inexpensive and durable and considered a basic staple of cloth diapering to many. They have a thicker center panel with thinner sides and the number of layers are referred to as plys. (So a 4 x 8 x 4 has 4 layer at the sides and 8 layers in the middle.) When used with "wrap" covers they are simple to use. Easy to wash thoroughly and quick to dry these diapers will last for more than one baby. For super absorbency try Hemp prefolds. Hemp is an ideal diaper fabric because it is more absorbent than cotton and durable and earth friendly because it is an unbleached material that needs less pesticides and chemicals to grow than cotton and other fabrics. For something super quick to dry and wash thoroughly try flat diapers! Great to take along on camping trips where quick, easy washing is key!

Diaper Rite Prefolds

These Diaper Rite ™ Prefolds are made from the durable, heavyweight, 100% Unbleached "Indian" cotton twill, these prefolds become softer and more quilted in time. They are custom-made in Pakistan using "Indian" cotton; they are unlike any other prefold diaper available online. Diaper Rite™ Prefolds, like Chinese Prefolds, and other styles of DSQ prefolds, are comprised of 3 vertical panels. Each of the panels differ in the amount of absorbent layers sewn into them - these panels usually have 4 to 8 thirsty layers of 100% heavyweight cotton twill. Typically the middle panel is the thickest, since that is the length of diaper that rests directly along baby's stride. The left and right panels have lesser layers than the center panel to keep them from becoming too bulky when wrapping and fastening them around baby with diaper pins/cloth diaper fasteners, or when tri-folding them to lay into a cloth diaper wrap. Prefolds are more economical because they can stand up to the rigors of cloth diapering multiple children over a span of several years of use. They can also serve as burp cloths, cloth diaper doublers, pocket diaper stuffers, changing pads, cloth baby wipes, dry towels, and when you are finished with your diapering days, cleaning rags.
Diaper Rite Prefolds fit perfectly in most Cloth Diaper Wraps. Unlike Chinese Prefolds and other styles of cotton prefold diapers, these Diaper Rite™ Prefolds boast a more "sensible sizing"; they are cut to lay perfectly inside most popular diaper covers, like the Bummis Super Whisper Wrap (as shown) and the Thirsties Diaper CoverThirsties Diaper Cover.
The shorter length of our Diaper Rite™ Prefolds decreases bulk that can lead to leaks; these prefold diapers do not have to be folded down to fit into baby's cloth diaper wrap. The increased width gives a fuller fit around baby's waist for added comfort.
Diaper Rite™ Prefolds will hold up under multiple industrial washings, which is why they are identified as Diaper Service Quality cotton diapers. As these cotton prefolds are washed they will get softer, more quilted and more absorbent. In other words, your cloth diaper investment gets BETTER with use.
Diaper Rite™ Prefolds are available undyed, natural color cotton. The edges are sewn with a heavier gauged thread than "traditional" prefolds for longevity and added durability. See the chart below for the relationship between the Diaper Rite™ Prefolds size and thread (stitching) color.

When you first receive your Diaper Rite™ Prefolds they will NOT BE WASHED. Please wash and dry the Diaper Rite ™ Prefolds a minimum of 3 times previous to use; this fluff-ups the cotton fibers, removes any remaining 'finishing' from the manufacturer, and allows for absorbency. Diaper Rite™ Prefolds get softer, more absorbent, and more quilted each time they are washed and dried.

Don't forget a diaper cover!Because our Diaper Rite™ Prefolds do not have a waterproof outer layer, they will require a diaper cover pulled atop, or wrapped around, them. We have a wide selection of cloth diaper cover, as well as cloth diaper fasteners made by recognized companies like Snappi and Dritz.

DSQ Cotton Prefolds

I am so happy with my newest source for Chinese prefolds. These diapers seem to have better quality control then the ones I used to offer and seem softer and more durable as well. These are the DSQ (diaper service quality) that are really made in China. They are super soft and durable with less pilling and shrinking because the length of fibers in the strand of cotton are longer than with other prefolds made in Pakistan or Mexico. They will shrink about 10%. Because they are made from natural unbleached cotton they will require 5-10 washings to reach full absorbency and thickness but they will be softer and thicker than bleached diapers and be a beautiful beige color.

Baby Textiles Indian Cotton Prefolds

These prefolds made by Baby Textiles of Indian cotton, made in Pakistan from Indian cotton, are very popular for their softness. The cotton is pre-rinsed before being made into prefolds to minimize shrinkage, so they do not take as many washes to break in as the Chinese Prefolds do and Sanforized which makes the cotton extra soft. They are made of a nice soft and absorbent twill weave which quilts up nicely to a durable, lint free diaper. These are made from natural unbleached cotton and will require 5-6 washings to reach full absorbency and thickness but they will be softer and thicker than bleached diapers and be a beautiful beige color. All unbleached Indian Prefolds have white stitching.

Please note: The sewing and workmanship on these diapers is not as nice or consistent as the White Eagle prefolds. It is not unusual to see manufacturing flaws such as improper serging, flawed material or streaks of color running through the fabric. If you do not want to encounter such flaws in your prefolds, please order White Eagle prefolds!

Unbleached Preemie prefold is 9.5" x 13" with 2x 6x 2 ply for babies 4 to 10 lbs. They are great to use as doublers or even menstrual pads after baby grows out of them! These tiny prefolds are too small to be very absorbent so be prepared to double diaper (use two of them together) for most babes.
Unbleached Infant prefold is 12" x 16" with 4 x 8 x 4 ply for babies 7 to 15 lbs.
Unbleached Premium prefold is 14.5" x 21-22" with 4 x 8 x 4 ply for babies 15 to 30 lbs.
Unbleached Toddler prefold is 17.5" x 23" with 4 x 8 x 4 ply for babies 30-45 lbs.

Bummis Organic Prefold Diapers

Polar Babies® Hemp Prefolds

Polar Babies® Hemp Diapers are the Ferrari of prefold diapers! Luxury and performance! (no guarantees about the speed of diaper changes though.) These Hemp diapers are the most absorbent prefold diapers you'll own. Hemp fibers are ½ again as absorbent as cotton fibers, and more durable than cotton, so your Polar Babies diapers will last longer as well. If your babe is a heavy wetter, then these are the diapers you need! Polar Babies® Diaper Contents: 55% hemp/45% cotton. These diapers will shrink up to 25%.

I really really think that the hemp fabric in this prefold is far nicer then any other hemp prefold I have seen. It is custom milled exclusively for these diapers. It has a looser weave which makes for a softer diaper that absorbs quicker and is easier to keep clean. These are by far my favorite diaper for overnights!

Indian Bleached Birdseye Flats

These are the most versatile item you can have in your cloth diapering setup. This is the original cloth diaper still used in many countries. They are a one size fits all diaper that requires folding to properly fit baby. They also make great dish towels, cleanups, burp cloths , lap pads, changing pads, bibs, wash cloths and baby wipers. These diapers are also used as optical cleaning cloths, CD & record cleaning cloths and for shoe shine polishing rags. Because these diapers are only one layer thick they are easy to wash thoroughly and dry quickly on your cloths line or in your dryer. They are made of soft 100% birdseye cotton; 27 by 27 inches and 1 layer thick. There are lots of ways to fold them, fasten with pins or Snappi.

These are bleached because they are not made in unbleached! I wish I could get unbleached for you.
